Why choose us

Stella Maris is nestled in a conservation area in an attractive Victorian Grade II listed building opposite St. John’s church.

We invite you to come and see our beautiful school.  We don’t offer a large school with modern on-site facilities, this school is for parents who want the best in pastoral care and academic learning, in an environment which is happy and positive.  Highly qualified and caring teachers will offer your child personal learning which will give them the very best start in their educational life and enable them to excel and achieve highly during their future years.

The children develop at their own speed and the success rate of getting your child into their secondary school of choice is outstanding and this is achieved year on year.  This is done by building up the knowledge and skills required from the moment they start on their journey in Pre-Prep 1. (Nursery).  Due to our carefully crafted Curriculum and individual attention from class teachers children are gradually working towards the grammar school exam process in a gentle and progressive way and when the 11+ exams arrive they are well-prepared and achieve success without any stress.  With expert guidance in Years 5 and 6 the children continue to focus and develop sound exam skills and technique and take their work to a higher level, which secures 11+ success. Throughout this process the children are relaxed and well-prepared and this is one of the reasons why our results are outstanding.

Each year our children are offered places in a wide variety of local grammar schools, including Stockport Grammar School, Cheadle Hulme School, Manchester Grammar School, Withington Grammar School, Manchester High School for Girls, St Bede’s College, Hulme Hall Grammar School, Alderley Edge School for Girls, as well as the Trafford Grammar Schools. We regularly receive feedback that many of our children achieve in the top % of results and there has been a significant amount of academic scholarships awarded in recent years.

We are very proud of these successes, but even more proud of the people our children grow into and how confident and ready they are for the next step in their educational journeys when they leave us and move on to the grammar school of their choice.
